10 Facebook Faux pas
(in my own opinion)
I have been wanting to write these for awhile, solely because its how I feel. If you want to be offended then please do, if you choose not to be offended that's even better. These are 10 of my biggest pet peeves that are done by facebook users everyday...
- Pictures of your food. Now that is great and dandy that you got to go to such and such restaurant and have such and such food. Please keep it to yourself. It's not as pleasant for those of us at home. Call it jealousy if it makes you feel better, but I'd personally rather not see what you are eating. ESPECIALLY if you remember to take the picture half way through eating and STILL post it. YUCK!
- Too Many #Hashtags. I don't really understand the point of hash tags myself, something about trying to get your picture/status/whatever out to the world, but if you are doing over 3 hash tags lets call that annoying. Seriously does it need to take up my whole screen+ while using a smartphone. NO!
- Shout outs to dead people or children who do not have a facebook. Call me insensitive, but shouting out to a loved one who has passed on seems pointless. They will never see it, all it is doing is asking for attention from others. Same with shout outs to how proud you are of your child or happy birthday to your child who doesn't have a facebook. They will never see your status, so why don't you just tell them to their faces?
- Too much medical 411. The whole world doesn't need to know when you are at the gynecologist, or the eye doctor, or brain doctor. We especially do not need to see pictures of you in the waiting room, getting blood drawn, having x-rays. Seems a little personal to be sharing for the world to see and know.
- Depressing Comments. We all know these can just get awkward. Lets keep personal things to ourselves. The only reason comments like these are made is because you are fishing for attention and comments.
- Ultrasound Pictures. I'll admit it's exciting to get to see your baby inside of you before he or she is born, but I think its a personal experience, and one that the whole world doesn't need to see. Share it with your family and close friends, but not on facebook where someone who is friends with someone who is friends with someone can see inside your uterus. I don't want everyone knowing what the inside of my Uterus looks like, do you? Its awkward.
- Newborn Baby Pictures. Heck yes, please share the pictures of your precious new little one. But lets get a diaper or some clothes on the kid first. I hate seeing brand new fully exposed naked pictures of babies. I am sure they will hate you for it as well.
- Vote for me Links. I'll admit I have passed some of these on as a favor to others, but I hate being bombarded with VOTE for ME or Vote for my Baby. And these aren't just a one time thing. Usually the contest goes for weeks or months at a time and fill ups my news feed. Especially if every new mom wants their little baby to win. That's a lot of voting, how can I pick just 1?? No thanks!
- Game Posts. I play games on facebook, I don't deny it. But I have my settings set so that every time I get a point on bingo blingo or candy crush it doesn't announce it to all my friends. Sometimes I have to scroll down for awhile in my news feed to get past all the achievements in different games. Find out your settings and change them.
- Pinterest Posts. Now I am not on Pinterest, but I sometimes feel like I am, because my news feed is filled with nothing but posts or shared things from pinterest. Do you have to share everything you look at?? Please lets limit our shares.
Cheers!
